Beauty Bus Experience

A few weeks ago I posted a blog about my beauty bus visit I had with Lily and her mother. I got a text a couple days ago from Lily. She was in the hospital. “my cancer returned, I am sick in the hospital, and I need my hair cut as short as possible”.

Lily, a cancer survivor of many years, takes care of her mother. Lily was the caregiver of her ill mother. When Beauty Bus visits our clients we take care of both the sick person, and their care giver.

Today Lily is sick. Her mother had to go to a home that cares for the sick immediately. Lily was in the hospital.

My beauty buddy and I meet in the lobby and we go up to her room together. I was with a different beauty buddy today , Patty( my last buddy) was busy with SEVEN visits today and couldn’t make today. Patty has a special relationship with Lily, as do I. She requests us specifically. I must say such an honor and gift.

We enter her room and she’s beaming! Radiating light, so positive. She welcomes us, and thanks us for coming on such short notice.

She asked me to cut her hair into a pixie, as she was going to surgery in two days, and after radiation she would lose all her hair. Pixieville here we come! She wears it beautifully, and a smile went from ear to ear when she looked at this photo her Doctor took of us.

It was emotional. Prayers go out for my dear Lily, and immense gratitude to the Beauty Bus foundation and all they stand for. I look forward to her next hair cut. I know her future holds another one! She will probably stay with her cute pixie because she looked so darn cute, and shows off her beautiful face!

Beautiful Lily and her new pixie.

Appreciate Your Gifts

Happy Wednesday everyone! I took the day off yesterday to rest. My body told me “go back to bed” at 7 am. Upon waking up getting my daughter off to school, I couldn’t quite get a grasp on my day much less myself. So I cancelled my meeting with my business coach. I was so looking forward. I needed to rest. I listened to my body. Slept all day Tuesday, and today WEDNESDAY was wonderful.

I did one of my favorite clients  hair today and copied down a few words she shared with me. Had to share.  We were chatting about our children. Ways they’ll critisize a picture of themselves, or put themselves down in some light manner. “if you don’t appreciate the gifts you are given, you run a risk of having them taken away”. She was referring to this karmically. I have always come from the school of thought  “be grateful for what you have, for what if you awoke and they were gone”.

Point is, every moment is a blessing. We all have somethng to be thankful for. Go write down 10 things you are thankful for RIGHT AT THIS MOMENT.  Stick it on your mirror. ”

Sweet dreams.
