Love in motion.

Reinvention is vast. It can look like creating a new good habit, changing your hair color, or a bold declaration of bringing more happiness and joy in your life. It can also be the opening of your heart. There is something magical about saying yes to love.

Lately I have been a smitten kitten.

Being near this particular (we”ll call him Kitten) makes me feel inspired in ways that surprise me, like seeing myself through a brighter lens. His energy fuels my motivation and I feel like I’ve tapped into a part of myself that has been waiting for this very moment. He inspires me to care more about not only others, but also myself.

Love is many things: romance, the flutter in your heart, the smile on your face the second someone mentions his name, the courage to expand our lives to allow each other to reflect the best version of ourselves. Welcoming bliss, connection, and adventure in.

Trusting someone with your heart to me is one of the scariest things or even trusting myself equally frightening. In the past If I found myself falling, I’d take on more love interests, just in case. Vulnerability has always felt absurdly risky and wanted no part of it.

This is a whole different experience. This kitten reflects back the best version of me, and it is beautiful. I am letting go, and love is coming through. The excitement of simultaneously creating a relationship and letting one develop organically is going to be the Top Thriller of 2025.

We are building memories that are the perfect continuation to my reinvention journey. I promise to take you along for the ride.

Welcome to my Reinvention

Invention

/noun/

The creation of something that didn’t exist before. A bold new idea brought to life. A vision, finally realized.

Re-

/prefix/

To do it again. But better. Wiser. With heart. With history.

Reinvention

/me/

I’ve spent years helping others reinvent their style, their confidence, their presence. I’ve been a guide, a muse, a mirror.

Now, for the first time, I get to turn all that energy inward.

No one’s relying on me. No one’s waiting for dinner.

The silence isn’t empty — it’s wide open. And I’m stepping into it with purpose.

This space is my next creation.

Not just a blog — but a home for my rebirth, my thoughts, my truth.

Because reinvention isn’t just something I offer.

It’s who I am.

Sunday surprise.

When the gift of a free Sunday comes full speed ahead , I freeze. You mean I don’t HAVE anywhere specific to be at a specific time? The day is mine? Well, perhaps if there weren’t a vast, hot  fire under me to go find my dream home.

The rain, so beautiful. Today? The day I’m out map questing and Westside rentaling, and driving  and holy hell… Parking??? Running in puddles, cranking up the defrosters in my car, driving slow so I can read the addresses.

I must admit it was fun. I was out imagining my new home, how would it be to live here?  It’s a strange feeling because I’ve lived in the same place for over a decade. I’ve remodeled  our home to serve our growing needs as a family. Took doors down, blinds, painted the entire inside three different times as we grew, and developed new taste.

The places I saw Today were sterile. Empty. Lacking energy.

Of course, there are no humans living in these empty homes. It is up to me to imagine, how is it going to look barren? Simply because I am not bringing but 1/3 of my crap to my new space! I want all new! Do I buy before I get the space for my family? Would it be acceptable for me to pick it out and surprise them?

Hmmmm. This was my Sunday. No sun though. No lease signed.

Check in with your 2015 goals

As we embark on March. The THIRD month of the year…It seems unfathomable, couldn’t be, no way, how????

Well, in a couple of hours it will be March 2015.

I am forced to open my list of goals I wrote for myself on New Years Eve. December 31, 2014. Way back last year, so long ago.

What I have come to find is I am not on schedule, and this month out of all the months of the year probably isn’t the optimal month to catch up. I am moving apartments, hiring a new assistant, and I think 10 people I adore are celebrating their birthdays this month. One of them being my daughter.

enjoy each breath
enjoy each breath

I rework, redesign, and take my time back. Every second I breath is intentional. Starting from here feels good. Going backwards  while   life moves   forward leaves you in the same place,  stagnant and not present.

Tomorrow is a new day, much like the next minute is a new minute. A new beginning to start anew.

Happy New Month of March to all of you! Spring is coming and each day it is lighter longer. Hold on and enjoy your ride of Life!

WOMEN EMPOWERED.

Growing up I had two mothers until the age of 12 when my mother met my amazing step father. My mother’s were strong women. Feminists if you will. I remember clearly the magazine “Ms” and their demands that my little sister Megan and I were not allowed to play with Barbie dolls. According to our mother’s,  they didn’t exemplify the strength woman had. Our  mother’s  and of course Grandmother, my aunts were and are all strong women. They women that surrounded my sister and I were the epitome of power. Teachers, home builders, chefs, basketball coaches, hairstylists, singers ; all wonderful.  That’s all I knew. I was almost shocked to learn in highschool that their was something called a glass ceiling. Explained to me as a ceiling for women. They could only go so far.

Yeah right? Never occurred to me to even consider this rubbish to be true.

Women and men are both amazing. Dogs, cats, goats, flowers, i-phones. All pretty incredible. We are all incredible in our own way. Comparisons, are pointless in regards to humans, as we all  sing our own songs.

This intro leads me to the volunteering I am so honored to be a part of at The Alexandria House in Los Angeles. Once again I am surrounded my women, all with stories, and all an inspiration to me. These incredible souls are sharing their story of how they got their power back to leave a bad awful  situation. They share on film their stories of survival and the day that they said,” I am taking my life back”.

To the beautiful women that share their lives with me for a few hours, know I admire and respect you. I am proud of you.

If you are afraid for your life , or the lives of your children and feel  trapped. You indeed are not. There are ways out of Hell. I know because I get to spend my Friday mornings with women that demanded their lives back and made it to safety. They gained the power to leave abuse and help others  find their strength and voice.

Lives changed this weekend.

This past weekend was the Long Beach ISSE show. A beauty industry gathering I look forward to every January. This year I traveled with my girls master stylist and Kevin Murphy educator Kristy Jarvis, my extremely talented little sis, Lindsey Fuentes, our Canyon Salon top Nail Artist Terry Viscara. I’ll refer to us as the “beauty gang” we roll to these events, classes, pop up events, photo shoots together. These girls are always down! We met the owners and dear friends Christy Calafati and Nikki Corzine there later and all had the best dinner at “555”.

Kristy Jarvis studied with the famous celebrity stylist Ted Gibson. A major shift transpired over two days in her career than set her on fire ! That fire was so bright it could’ve lit up the world!

We came as one person , and at the end of the weekend, we left with our passions ignited And feeling inspired and educated to our cores.

Thank you to Mike Johles from LA shear and Aaron Johles from Ibiza Hair for all your support , help and love! Nina Kovner for simply being a passionista and spreading the love, Jericho for teaching me things I never ever knew!! ( 7 minute Blowdry ) and haircut techniques so simple with great impact! To Editor in Chief of American Salon , Salon Today and Modern Salon, Stacy Soble. She took time for me to hear our story of the Canyon Salon raising awareness about domestic violence , shooting a documentary, our huge fundraiser in April, and what is “Ingridhairinspiration” ?

Thank you to the many new friends I made, the vendors that sold me a truck full of supplies! To the makers of Patron, SARK cards , The Hyatt , every single person that poured their love into the 2015 International Salon and Spa expo!

All of you brought it together and gave us the best weekend of 2015 thus far!

Little effort leads to a whole new look

Today I was on my way home from the salon. A colleague of mine asked if I could help her out with a little girl’s bang trim as she was running behind with a color correction. I of course said yes! Working as a team is integral to salon success and an overall supportive vibe felt throughout our high end 5 star Canyon Salon. minutes later in walks this rad girl ( not little) perhaps in her late teens , with gorgeous one length, long red hair .

Of course not what I was expecting, and of course I’m thrilled.

She came in looking one way and 10 minutes later she left with an entire new look.

The power a small change can make in ones image is staggering.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I brought in the new year cleaning and organizing my home. Stumbled across many things I have been looking for. Ever dust off your book case and actually look at the library you have put together over the course of your life in your very own home?

I am a book collector, an avid and passionate transformer. My collection of books blows me away. What would it be like if in I weren’t able to leave the house for a week and do nothing but read all my enlightening books?

I’ll answer that. Full of knowledge in home organization, home decorating, chakra healing, hair color formulation ideas, updo ideas, business savvy…You get it.

I fell asleep with a stack of magazines last night, tearing out pages of new haircuts and color ideas for my clients.

Embrace the beauty of each day, it is a gift. You can have everything! Your mind has ALL THE POWER! Consider your utmost dreams a reality; If you believe it is so.

I am off to go read some books and tear pages out of magazines of images that I love and tape them all over my walls!

New Years Preparation

Last few days of 2014
New Years Prep at The Canyon Salon

It’s been fabulous getting my clients all set up with their new look for 2015. Many changes. Lots of prebookings for new hair color to start the new year fresh.

Then there’s me. The stylist seems to be the last one to get their look pulled together.

I squeezed in to see my facialist Miss Kelli McCauley from the Canyon Salon literally in between clients. My first go at Dermaplaning. Topped off with oxy-glo. Wow! What a difference ! Photos to come. It’s late, but had to post, as we only have one more day in 2014. Are we all prepped with a pulled together image to embark our new year?

Is your house clean, organized, Christmas lights down, new hair, clean skin, groomed brows, thank you cards sent? Vison board created?

We better get to work.
