Beauty Bus Experience

A few weeks ago I posted a blog about my beauty bus visit I had with Lily and her mother. I got a text a couple days ago from Lily. She was in the hospital. “my cancer returned, I am sick in the hospital, and I need my hair cut as short as possible”.

Lily, a cancer survivor of many years, takes care of her mother. Lily was the caregiver of her ill mother. When Beauty Bus visits our clients we take care of both the sick person, and their care giver.

Today Lily is sick. Her mother had to go to a home that cares for the sick immediately. Lily was in the hospital.

My beauty buddy and I meet in the lobby and we go up to her room together. I was with a different beauty buddy today , Patty( my last buddy) was busy with SEVEN visits today and couldn’t make today. Patty has a special relationship with Lily, as do I. She requests us specifically. I must say such an honor and gift.

We enter her room and she’s beaming! Radiating light, so positive. She welcomes us, and thanks us for coming on such short notice.

She asked me to cut her hair into a pixie, as she was going to surgery in two days, and after radiation she would lose all her hair. Pixieville here we come! She wears it beautifully, and a smile went from ear to ear when she looked at this photo her Doctor took of us.

It was emotional. Prayers go out for my dear Lily, and immense gratitude to the Beauty Bus foundation and all they stand for. I look forward to her next hair cut. I know her future holds another one! She will probably stay with her cute pixie because she looked so darn cute, and shows off her beautiful face!

Beautiful Lily and her new pixie.
Beautiful Lily and her new pixie.

The Canyon Salon Supports the Arts

Next Sunday November 16,  The Canyon Salon will be hosting  a fundraiser for the Los Cerritos  Middle School Band and Orchestra Department at our beautiful salon.  The Canyon Salon enjoys giving back to our community and supporting schools and being part of local events.

The fundraiser will run from 12-3. Kids cuts of $ 15.00 All proceeds go directly to the LCMS Band and Orchestra Department.

This is a great opportunity for all involved. Getting your kids haircut for the upcoming holidays. Our stylists that have been in our Assistant training program  at  Canyon Salon get to utilize their talents on the students (up to age 15)  working in a timely fashion. Bookings  are on the half hour.

I will post photos next week of before and after. Looking forward!

Oribe Hair Care on the Road.

What? Two tickets for Nikki (a owner) and me? We are invited to Milk Studios to experience a brand. I believe they have a beautiful job over at Oribe making a super high end, sexy, classy product line that emanates fire and fabulousness. It screams “the best”!

The Canyon was is discussion many years about carrying this line, when were moving to our new location Instead we decided to carry another brand from Italy. To be honest the name slipped my memory. It was cute, and every body bought it. New Salon, New Product. They go together. Unfortunately for all that product we moved there were no points. No treats. No gifts.

So we yanked it.

Unite has come and gone, and is  now back.  Making a huge resurgence in our salon. Theyr’e just at the perfect position at the perfect time. all aligning beautifully. we have full representation of Unite. I have to say Kevin Striwerdtka is our man. He is always there for us, and I do appreciate support. All the Unite Peeps are a class act.

We currently carry Kevin Murphy, Alterna Caviar and bamboo, UNITE. ELC, Bumble went away recently. That was a slight heartbreaker. We go way back.

But I’m talking Oribe. We’ll see what goes on Dec 8 at The Milk Studios. Are they going to impress? I’m sure they’ll deliver a stunning show, and I count down the days to be moved.
